A guild mate also suggested more:
MT also refers to Mana Tombs
newb vs noob: the first is descriptive (a person new to the game or to an area) and the second is an insult (a person taht has been around a while and STILL doesn’t know what he or she is talking about). Nub is just lazy-type for noob.

There are loads of people who benefit from a list and this is pretty comprehensive. The ones made up by people on a daily basis do not count until they are widely adopted.

Very nice guide, finally found out what PBAoE means years after I used to hear it called that on DAoC

I’m guessing you’re hordies cos DM is often used on alliance side to refer to the Deadmines instance as well as Dire Maul.

Sorry for the late reply on this - these are “smilies” or “emoticons”. They depict a facial expression, if turned on their side.
: ) - smiling
: ( - frowning
; ) - winking
: p - sticking tongue out
etc.
There are also “rightways round” expressions such as ^_^ or (anime style, satisfied face, often shortened itself to ^^ ) o_O (shock or bewilderment) \o/ (throwing your hands up in glee!) etc.
Hope this helps a bit!

Just thought I’d add a few others in case you wanted to update your list:

SS = Summoning Stone.
CoT = Caverns of Time
CoS = Culling of Stratholm
HC = heroic (difficulty level for instances)

I also noticed that none of the abbreviations for the Wrath of the Lich King are on your very fine list (It would be awesome if it could be brought up to date).

Minor point but Mob actually stands for Monster or Beast. It’s a very old gaming term.

Hi Joe, thank you for your feedback. You are correct that the term Mob has been used as such by online gamers for a while, but the original origin as explained in the guide is correct!

The “Monster or Beast” has been adopted the past 8 or so years, since MMORPG’s really took hold. The term ‘Mobile’ is much older!
